Cast N Crew has a new beginning this coming school year, with Miss Molly taking over as lead director! Here are the announcement letters from Miss Kathy and Miss Molly regarding this change.
From Kathy:
Molly and I have been discussing for a while my “retirement” as your director so while it will be a bittersweet moment for me, I am excited about the future of CNC under the direction of Molly Lynn (and husband, Mike)!
While things might transition slowly at first, and I will still be around doing whatever Molly needs me to do, she and Mike will take over the bulk of program leadership and behind the scene “work” duties. That being said, because their station in life is much different than mine now and when I started this circus, Molly is very much considering going back to an “easier” rehearsal schedule similar to our pre-Covid days, i.e., a four-hour period with maybe a two-hour extra/make-up day as needed. With her four littles and homelife/schedule, she feels this would be much more manageable for her. We are aware there are MANY coop days/times now that might conflict with her plans and your decisions for the coming year(s) SO she will be sending out a very specific poll/survey online for you to respond with how your families’ school/work day schedule might look like and IF CNC will be a good fit for your children or not. We realize this might be a game-changer for many of you and while that is something we don’t take lightly, Molly & Mike feel it is necessary to maintain a reasonable balance of homelife and CNC service. While this change might decrease our numbers for performances at first, this might be a good thing in the long run.
Please bear with us as we take steps before the Lord to continue to meet the needs of area homeschool families with such a beneficial and fun interactive learning tool that the performing arts provides. I can think of NO ONE more qualified than my once-eager and attentive student since way before 2007 and present co-director, Molly Sublett Lynn, to continue the journey! I am humbled and proud to pass the CNC baton to her and know you will give her the same respect and consideration as you have given me these last 18 years!
Thank you for your time!
In Christ, Mrs. B/CNC
From Molly (Assistant Director’s note in Joseph program):
After this production, our beloved director Kathy will retire from her lead director role in Cast N Crew. Her leadership has transformed countless students’ lives, including my own! My journey with CNC began in eighth grade when Kathy founded this program. After completing my Theatre Education degree at Harding, teaching at North Little Rock Middle School, and starting a family, I returned to where my passion for theatre first grew.
Like Joseph in our musical, Kathy has used her gifts from God to bless many lives. In Genesis 41, when Joseph is elevated to leadership in Egypt, Pharaoh recognizes him as one “in whom is the Spirit of God.” This also describes Kathy, who has guided CNC with love, wisdom, and discernment. Through every challenge (including directing an entire production with a broken wrist without missing a single rehearsal), she has persevered with unwavering dedication and her characteristic smile. Just as Joseph’s leadership impacted many, Kathy’s Christ-like example and commitment to theatrical excellence have brought the joy of theatre to many families.
While stepping back, Kathy will continue to be involved, offering her guidance as I take on this new role. I am honored to build upon the strong foundation she created with the students and families of Cast N Crew. Thank you, our audience, for being part of this community. I hope to see each of you continue to support our future endeavors as we carry forward the legacy that Kathy has built!
Excited for our future adventures <3 Molly Lynn
